Information presented on this site is designed to showcase the emerging area in the province of Colon, commonly referred to as Costa Arriba (which means upper coast). Locals, using the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal as the dividing line, began referring to the area above the canal as Costa Arriba, and below as Costa Abajo. This author has chosen to focus on the upper coast as a matter of preference. IMHO the area of Costa Arriba is emerging more quickly than Costa Abajo, with developments such as San Marino, Bala Beach, and Turtle Cay Marina.
